The residence on Akti Kountouriotou, located in the historic Venetian Harbor of Chania, is an example of balanced restoration within the traditional urban fabric. The recent architectural intervention focused on the internal reconfiguration of the stone-built shell and the replacement of older materials with new, contemporary elements that engage in dialogue with the building’s historic character.
During the construction works, an elaborate Ottoman doorway was uncovered and carefully restored, becoming an integral feature of the space and a unique element of architectural heritage and significance. The residence is completed by its exceptional visual connection to the Venetian Lighthouse, bridging contemporary functionality with the city’s historic past.
